As a design department of one, I was brought on to Ferrante Koberling to refine its identity and expand brand applications to print, digital and environmental media. The unique challenge here was to curate the visual appeal to the prospective high-end luxury fashion clients, while preserving the raw brutalist aesthetic that clearly defined it as design-forward construction company. Aside from architectural forms of past projects, chosen direction has been heavily inspired by the Swiss style books on graphics kept at the headquarters.
The bones of the existing identity were preserved: high-contrast elements on rich black backgrounds, structured compositions, combination of sans-serifs and serifs, use of photography over illustration. I have introduced more refined font selections and color palettes, developed graphic style guidelines, produced visual assets and various marketing materials, including a corporate deck that secured meetings with Versace, Moncler, Dior and Gucci.
With conceptual input from the architect CEO, it was my first experience developing the signage system from design inception all the way to production, involving preparation of the files, communication with vendors, material selection, estimating the project and approval of proofs.
